BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University department of intercollegiate athletics has announced that, in the event the Falcon volleyball team hosts a Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal match, that match would be held Tuesday (Nov. 21) at 3:00 p.m. at Anderson Arena.
The Falcons are 19-8 overall heading into Wednesday night's (Nov. 15) non-conference match at Cleveland State, and BGSU sports a MAC record of 11-6 with one league regular-season match to play. The Brown and Orange will play at Buffalo Saturday (Nov. 18), needing a win to clinch a top-four seed for the tournament and the accompanying homecourt berth for the quarterfinal round.
Even if the Falcons lose at Buffalo, BGSU still has a chance for a home match Tuesday, depending upon the outcomes of other MAC matches this weekend.
The early start time for the potential home match is due to several factors. The Falcon men's basketball team has a home game scheduled for Tuesday evening, taking on Evansville in a 7:00 p.m. start, and the MAC office has mandated that all volleyball quarterfinal matches be played on Tuesday.
In the event that the Falcons host a quarterfinal match, tickets will be $4 for adults and $2 for BGSU students with a valid ID. The first 100 students will be admitted free of charge. Gates will open at 2:00 p.m.
The winners of Tuesday's four quarterfinal matches, all held at campus sites, will advance to the semifinal round. The semifinal contests, as well as the championship match, will be held next weekend at the site of the highest remaining seed. Those matches will be Nov. 24-25 or Nov. 25-26, depending upon the host institution.
