Caty Rommeck Fourth In Nation In Blocks

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The NCAA has released the latest volleyball statistics, and Bowling Green State University student-athletes are represented in several categories. Junior Caty Rommeck (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) and freshman Susie Norris (Bascom, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon) are ranked in blocks and digs, respectively. The NCAA statistics are current through matches of Nov. 26.
In the NCAA statistical rankings, Rommeck, a middle hitter/blocker, has moved up to fourth in the country in blocks, averaging 1.65 blocks per game. Nebraska's Amber Holmquist leads the nation with 2.02 blocks per game.
Norris, a left-side hitter, is ranked 13th nationally with a school-record 4.28 digs per game. She is the top freshman in the country in that category. Rider's Evette Hoeffner paces the country with 5.55 digs per contest.
As a team, the Falcons barely missed cracking the top 20 in digs per game. BGSU had 2,091 digs in 111 games this year, for an average of 18.837 per game. Bradley is ranked 20th in the nation with 18.841 digs per game (1,903 digs in 101 games).
The Falcons of head coach Denise Van De Walle finished the 2000 season with an overall record of 21-9. BGSU posted a Mid-American Conference mark of 12-6 to tie for the league's East Division title.
