FALCONS IN 4TH SEASON WITH DAKICH
The Falcons are in their fourth season under head coach Dan Dakich. BGSU is coming off a 22-8 campaign which saw them earn the regular season MAC Championship and a berth in the NIT. BGSU was 14-4 in the conference a season ago. The Falcons have an 19-9 record against non-conference foes in the last 28 non-MAC tilts since 1998.
SPRITE HOLIDAY CLASSIC
BGSU will travel to Auburn Hills, Michigan to face defending national champion Michigan State in the second game of the Sprite Holiday Classic. Oakland will face Wright State in the opener at 5 p.m. This is the lone neutral court game of the regular season for BGSU. The Falcons are 4-0 under Dakich during the regular season on a neutral floor. Last year, they defeated Cleveland State, 91-86, in the Rock and Roll shootout in Cleveland and Jackson State, 60-43, in Hawaii.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 11th meeting in a series which began in 1959. The Spartans hold a 7-3 edge, however BGSU has won two of the last three meetings. The Falcons won at Michigan State, 81-79, in December 1989, and 98-85 in Bowling Green, in December of 1990.
The Spartans are riding a national best 20-game winning streak and could move to the top spot in the polls after #3 Stanford defeated #1 Duke, Thursday night.
