BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - UP NEXT: The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team, after winning last weekend's only match, is idle until March 2. On that date, the Falcons of coach Jay Harris will begin a four-match road swing with a dual against Kalamazoo College. Start time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Kalamazoo, Mich.
The following day (March 3), the Brown and Orange will be in Chicago, Ill., to take on DePaul University. First serve in the Windy City is set for 1:00 p.m. local time. BGSU's next home match is scheduled for March 17 against Wright State.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons captured five of the six singles matches en route to a 5-2 victory over Ferris State University in a dual match Friday evening (Feb. 18). The contest was held at Laurel Hill in Toledo.
The visiting Bulldogs, an NCAA Division II power, captured the doubles point, with BG's lone victory coming from the third-flight team of sophomore Mike Kossoff and freshman Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo. That duo won a 9-8 match, taking the tiebreaker by a 9-7 score.
Five of the six singles matches also required a tiebreaker, with Kossoff's straight-sets win at the fifth flight the lone exception. The Falcon singles lineup consisted of three freshmen and three sophomores.
Sophomore Vitek Wild captured a three-set match over FSU's Jan Talian at the top level, winning a third-set tiebreaker by a 7-2 result. Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo won in straight sets at the third flight, while twin brother Micael Lopez-Acevedo captured a three-set decision at flight number four.
Sophomore Ed Kuresman was victorious in two sets at the sixth flight. BG's only singles loss came at the second flight, where freshman Geoff Hiscox fell to his Bulldog foe.
