Farmer Earns Academic All-District Honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green women's basketball student-athlete Angie Farmer has been named to the GTE Academic All-District IV University Division Team. The district team, announced Thursday (Feb. 24), is made up of student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve on the team, and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
Farmer, who has a 3.87 cumulative GPA as an education (social studies) major, has started 17 of BG's 25 games this year. She is second on the team with 12.6 points per game heading into Friday's regular-season finale at Buffalo, and she has set the school single-season records with 73 three-point field goals made and 173 attempted.
The GTE Academic All-District IV First Team consisted of Jacksonville State's Lisa Baswell, Michigan State's Becky Cummings, Tennessee Tech's Janet Holt and Diane Seng, Toledo's Karin Husbeck and Jennifer Markwood and Ohio State's Lauren Shenk.
Farmer is joined on the second team by Laura Baswell of Jacksonville State, Collin Carmichael of Tennessee Tech, Audra Cook of Cleveland State and Kentucky's Tiffany Wait.
