BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The NCAA has released the latest Division I women's basketball statistics, and Bowling Green State University is listed in a number of categories. As a team, the Falcons continue to lead the nation in three-point field goals made per game, with an average of 9.1 (NCAA stats through games of Monday, Jan. 31).
Through 19 contests this season (as of Monday), BGSU had already set a school record by making a total of 172 three-pointers. The "old" school record of 135 successful three-pointers in a season was set just last winter. Additionally, BGSU is 25th in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage, with a success rate of .370, and the Falcons are 12th in the nation in free-throw percentage (.753).
Individually, junior Angie Farmer ranks among the national leaders in three-point field goals made per game. Farmer had made 56 in 19 contests, an average of 2.9 successful treys per outing. That average places her ninth in the nation.
Sophomore Francine Miller is tied for 22nd in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage, with a success rate of .459.
Following last night's (Feb. 2) game, a 69-59 loss at Marshall, BGSU is now averaging 8.85 three-pointers per game and shooting .358 from three-point land and .748 from the free-throw line. Farmer is still averaging 2.9 treys per game, while Miller is shooting .430 from long range.
The NCAA Division I statistics are released each week (generally late Tuesday or early Wednesday) during the season. National stats will be released each week through March 4.
BGSU is 5-15 overall, and 3-7 in Mid-American Conference play, heading into Monday's (Feb. 7) contest vs. Northern Illinois University. That game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at BG's venerable Anderson Arena.
