Gymnastics Falls To Two Nationally-Ranked Foes

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Bowling Green gymnastics team finished third, behind a pair of nationally-ranked foes, in Saturday evening action (March 11). The Falcons posted a team score of 192.175 to trail #1-ranked Michigan (197.050) and 13th-ranked Florida (194.500) before a crowd of 1,514 at UM's Crisler Arena.
The two Falcon opponents were ranked in their respective spots in the latest GymInfo rankings (March 7), based on Regional Qualifying Score (RQS).
BGSU's top finish was recorded by sophomore Marny Oestreng, who finished second in the all-around with a score of 39.275. BGSU freshman Ann Marie Kassouf was fifth with a 38.525 total.
Oestreng was BG's top finisher in every event, tying for fourth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.800. She was fifth in the balance beam (9.850), tied for sixth in the vault (9.850) and placed seventh in the uneven parallel bars (9.775).
The Falcons are next in action a week from Saturday (March 18), participating in the Mid-American Conference Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich.
