LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Bowling Green women's tennis team lost a 5-4 neutral-site match to Boston College Saturday (March 18). The dual match was held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
BGSU received singles wins at the bottom two flights against the Eagles, from sophomore Devon Bissinger and junior Tracy Howitt, respectively. Those two players also combined for a win at the third doubles flight.
The Falcons and Eagles used an ITA experimental scoring system in which, if two singles competitors were even after two sets, the "third set" was comprised of a tiebreaker up to 10.
In doubles play, the top team of juniors Abby Bratton and Erika Wasilewski won, in addition to the aforementioned third-flight duo.
The Falcons, now 5-5 in dual-match play, will return home for the first time in a month-and-a-half span, with a pair of home dual matches this weekend. The Falcons of head coach Penny Dean will open Mid-American Conference action with a Friday (March 24) match against Miami at BGSU's Keefe Courts. The courts are located off of Stadium Drive, behind the BGSU Ice Arena.
Following the Miami match, BGSU will welcome Marshall to town for a Saturday (March 25) contest. Both duals are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
After this weekend's play, the Brown and Orange will return to the road for five matches, not playing again at home until the weekend of April 21-22.
