BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -
UP NEXT: The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team, after three shutout wins at home last weekend, will play three matches this week, including one home contest Saturday (April 1). The Falcons of coach Jay Harris, now 9-4 in dual-match play, will play at Louisville Wednesday (March 29), with start time scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Following the UL match, BGSU will take on Rice in a neutral-site contest Friday (March 31). The teams will meet in Columbus, Ohio, with first serve scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the Falcons will host Dayton in a 1:00 p.m. match at Keefe Courts. The courts are located off Stadium Drive, directly behind the BGSU Ice Arena.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons played three matches at Keefe Courts, winning all three by 7-0 scores. BGSU opened Mid-American Conference action with a Saturday (March 25) win over Buffalo, then returned to the courts that afternoon for a win over Denison. Sunday, the Falcons topped Robert Morris to complete the weekend sweep.
BGSU has now won five consecutive matches by shutout.
In the UB match, coach Jay Harris employed three freshmen, a sophomore, a junior and a senior in his starting lineup. The sophomore, Mike Kossoff, won at the second flight, then made his collegiate debut at the top flight in the Denision match. Kossoff's first dual-match appearance at number-one singles was a successful one, as he downed the Big Red's Jeronie Barnes.
In the Robert Morris win, Harris used three frosh, two sophomores and a senior in his singles lineup. As has been the case in each of the last five matches, all six players won.
