BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Preseason league favorite Ball State won five singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over Bowling Green in men's tennis action Thursday afternoon (April 13). The Mid-American Conference dual match was held at BGSU's Keefe Courts.
The Cardinals, ranked 52nd in the nation in the latest WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings, earned wins at the top five singles flights. The lone winner for the Falcons was junior Brandon Gabel, who defeated BSU's Eric Butorac in three sets.
In doubles action, the Falcons' second-flight team of freshman Geoff Hiscox and sophomore Ed Kuresman was the lone winning duo for the Brown and Orange.
Ball State, picked to win the league in the preseason coaches' poll, improves to 15-6 overall and 5-0 in MAC dual action. The Falcons drop to 12-7 and 2-1, respectively, heading into Saturday's (April 15) home match with defending MAC champion Western Michigan. That match will begin at 11:00 a.m. at BGSU's Keefe Courts.
