BOWLING GREEN, O. - - This year's annual spring game was won by the white team in a low scoring affair (7-3)dominated by the defense.
The white team scored first on a bootleg by Ricky Schneider from the one yard line. The score was set up by a 39-yard pass from Schneider to redshirt freshman Andre Pinchem to get the offense inside of the ten yard line. Sophomore Mike Knapp kicked the extra point.
The orange team came back to score in the second half on a 35-yard field goal by Knapp.
Offensively, Eric Miscuda led the team with 31 yards on ten carries. Ricky Schneider completed 8-14 passes for 111 yards and one touchdown, while Andy Sahm hit on five of 15 passes for 54 yards and one interception. Pinchem led the receivers with 49 yards on two catches. Flanker Kurt Gerling made four catches for 46 yards.
Defensively, the Falcons recorded four sacks, led by junior Casey Williams with two. Freshman Michael Malone led the team with six tackles, while sophomore Marcus Allen followed with five.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day was the performance of punter Pat Fleming, who had booming punts of 77, 53, and 51 yards. He also had a 47-yard punt that pinned the orange team on the three yard line in the first half.
