Falcon Named MAC Rookie of the Year

The Mid-American Conference men's tennis awards were announced today (April 29) following the conclusion of the championship held in Toledo, Ohio.
Bowling Green freshman Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo, who hails from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, was selected Newcomer of the Year. He compiled a 5-1 record in MAC singles matches and a 4-2 mark in doubles competition. Overall, Lopez-Acevedo compiled a 21-13 mark in singles while playing predominantly at #1 or #2, and a 22-7 record in doubles. His play helped the Falcons to a share of the MAC regular-season title.
Ball State senior Ryan Baxter won the Player of the Year, while Western Michigan's Kyle Gernhofer won the Sportsmanship Award. Coach of the Year was shared by WMU's Dave Morin and Eastern Michigan's Tony Martin.
