Bowling Green, OH - Bowling Green State University Head Football Coach, Gary Blackney, announced the hiring of Jim Bridge, who will serve as the offensive line and tight ends coach. Bridge replaces Brian Sherman, who resigned in order to pursue a career opportunity outside of coaching.
Bridge, 30, is not new to the Falcon football program. He started his coaching career at Bowling Green as a graduate assistant in 1992, earning a Master of Education Degree in Sport Administration in 1994. He was responsible for the defensive and scout special teams, among other duties. After his assistantship at BGSU, he received another post-graduate degree, this time a Master of Education in Sport Psychology, from the University of Virginia. He served as a football graduate assistant at Virginia for one season.
Following his appointment at UVA, Bridge was hired as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at The Citadel. While at The Citadel, he was responsible for the tight ends and tackles in his first year, and then was promoted to offensive line coach. He was also responsible for recruiting in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Bridge is excited about the challenges before him, and he feels fortunate to be back at Bowling Green.
"Bowling Green has a great football tradition," he said. "I had the opportunity to be a member of Coach Blackney's staff before, and it's a pleasure to be back."
A 1992 graduate of Wittenberg University, Bridge earned three varsity letters playing football and captained the team his senior year.
