AKRON, Ohio - The Bowling Green women's track team placed fourth at Saturday's (May 6) USTCA Quad Meet in Akron, Ohio. The Falcons posted a team score of 95 points, trailing Kent (242), host Akron (171) and Ohio (142).
For the Brown and Orange, junior Lori Williams was the lone winner, capturing the hammer throw with an effort of 51.78 meters (169'10.00"). Williams was second in the discus with a throw of 52.38 meters (171'10.00"). That throw, BGSU's lone second-place finish on the day, was a BGSU season best and also met the NCAA Provisional Qualifying standard.
Senior Andrea Cook was third in the pole vault with an effort of 3.50 meters (11'05.75")., while freshman Mary Willems posted a third-place finish in the shot put (13.54 meters / 44'05.25").
Junior Lisa Mariea was third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:34.60.
The Falcons are now idle until May 18-20, when the team heads to Buffalo for the Mid-American Conference Championships.
