BG Men Place Third In Reese Standings

Bowling Green State University finished in a third-place tie with Ohio University at 56.5 points in the 1999-2000 Mid-American Conference Reese Standings.
The Reese Trophy is an annual trophy named for former MAC Commissioner David E. Reese, award to the MAC university with the six-highest finishes in the 11 men's sports for which the MAC sponsors championships. The top-six sports per university are to be counted, however, three of the six must be football, basketball and baseball.
The Falcons, four-time winners of the Reese Trophy (1959-72-94-95), finished behind Kent State (65 points) and Miami (60.5). Following the Falcons and the Bobcats were Western Michigan (54.5), Central Michigan (54), Toledo (54), Akron (52.5), Marshall (52), Eastern Michigan (51.5), Ball State (51), Northern Illinois (45) and Buffalo (30).
Basketball was first in both the East Division and overall, while football was fifth in the East Division and tied for 10th overall. Baseball was fourth in the East Division and sixth overall.
Men's tennis tied for first in the regular season and was a semifinalist in the MAC Championship, while soccer was third in the regular season.
Golf and indoor track and field each placed sixth, with swimming and outdoor track and field each placing seventh. Cross country finished 11th.
