Women's Cross Country Places Third At Mel Brodt Invitational

The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team placed third in the 11-team Mel Brodt Invitational Saturday morning at BGSU.
The Falcons finished with 76 points as Toledo won the invitational with a team score of 31. Central Michigan was second with 43 points. Following BG were Cincinnati (84), Wright State (111), Xavier (168), Findlay (174), Ohio Northern (183), Windsor (201), Siena Heights (220) and Cleveland State (272).
Leading the way for BG was sophomore Joy Echler (Montpelier, Ohio) who placed fifth in a time of 18:11. Other top performances for the Falcons were turned in by senior Christine Thompson (Amherst, Ohio/Steele) who placed 13th (18:31), freshman Jordan Hartmann (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) who placed 16th (18:59), senior Lisa Mariea (Toledo, Ohio/Start) who placed 21st (19:07), sophomore Briana Killian (Englewood, Ohio/Northmont) who placed 30th (19:39), sophomore Erin Croley (Laura, Ohio/Milton-Union) who placed 31st (19:39) and freshman Amber Culp (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) who placed 32nd (19:41).
The next meet for BG will be on Sept. 23 in Minneapolis at the Roy Griak Invitational.
