Volleyball Falcons Ranked Among Nation's Leaders

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The NCAA has released the latest volleyball statistics, and Bowling Green State University is represented in several categories. Junior Caty Rommeck (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) and freshman Susie Norris (Bascom, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon) are ranked in blocks and digs, respectively, while the Falcons are listed in both of those categories as a team. The NCAA statistics are current through matches of Sept. 24.
Rommeck, a middle hitter/blocker, is currently fourth in the country in blocks, averaging 1.71 blocks per game. BYU's Nina Puikkonen leads the nation with 1.89 blocks per game.
Norris, a left-side hitter, has moved up to fifth nationally with 4.49 digs per game. Tennessee Tech's Maggie Stern paces the country with 5.09 digs per contest.
As a team, the Falcons are ranked fourth in the NCAA in digs, averaging 20.14 per game. BGSU is 12th in the country in blocks, with 3.10 per contest. The Falcons lead the Mid-American Conference in both categories.
The Falcons (7-4 overall, 0-2 MAC) of head coach Denise Van De Walle will conclude a seven-match homestand this weekend, facing Kent State in a Friday (Sept. 29) match before meeting Marshall Saturday (Sept. 30). Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at venerable Anderson Arena (5,000).
