ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The host University of Michigan recorded a 7-0 win over the Bowling Green State University women's tennis team Friday night (Jan. 19). The non-conference match was held at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.
U-M jumped out to a 1-0 advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches, then continued the string with victories in all six singles contests.
Falcon singles competitors included seniors Meghan Rhodes, Abby Bratton and Erika Wasilewski at the top three flights. Junior Devon Bissinger, freshman Lisa Maloney and senior Tracy Howitt rounded out the BGSU lineup.
The top doubles team for coach Penny Dean's squad consisted of Bratton and Bissinger. At the second flight, Wasilewski and Maloney lost in a tiebreaker, while Rhodes and freshman Gaby Coello fell by a narrow 9-7 score at the third flight.
The Falcons (0-1) will return to action with a pair of matches in Bloomington, Ind., a week from Saturday (Jan. 27). BGSU will face Indiana State and host Indiana.
