Women's Gymnastics At Cat Classic

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's gymnastics team will compete at the 21st Annual State Farm Cat Classic February 2 and 3 at the University of Missouri. Team competition will begin Friday at 7 p.m., while individual competition will commence Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Competitors: BGSU, which enters the meet with a 4-2 record and a #22 ranking, will battle #10 Illinois State (5-1), #14 BYU (3-0) and host Missouri (1-2). The Falcons have never faced BYU and are 8-6 against Illinois State and are 0-5 against Missouri.
In the MAC: Junior Marny Oestreng was named MAC Co-Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season. She has the conference's top overall marks in the vault (9.925), uneven bars (9.925), floor (9.975) and all-around (39.125). Freshman Pia Sjovall is second in the league in the vault (9.875) and sophomore Ann Marie Kassouf is second in the uneven bars (9.875).
As a team, BGSU has the top overall score (195.000), and ranks first in the vault (48.850).
Nationally: Oestreng is ranked 13th in the uneven bars with an average of 9.887 and eighth in the vault at 9.850. Sjovall is 19th in the vault at 9.831. In addition to their 22nd ranked overall average (193.625), BGSU is 23rd in the floor exercise (48.769) and 18th in the vault at 48.481.
