BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball program begins its 29th varsity season, but its first under head coach Curt Miller, Saturday (Oct. 13). That morning, the Falcons will begin practice for the coming season at Anderson Arena.
Miller has 11 returning letterwinners, including three starters, from last year's BGSU team. The Falcons are scheduled to play a home exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 12, before beginning the regular season with a Nov. 17 contest at Youngstown State.
The regular-season home opener is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 27, against Eastern Kentucky. The Falcons will play four non-league games and eight MAC contests at Anderson.
Miller will look to seniors Francine Miller (no relation) and Dana Western-Schuka for leadership, as the two -- the only senior returnees on the squad -- will co-captain the 2001-02 Falcons. Francine Miller recently was selected to the Preseason All-Mid-American Conference Team.
Check the BGSU web site for much more information on the Falcon women's basketball team, including a season outlook and updated biographical information on players and coaches, in the coming weeks.
