ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team posted a seventh-place finish in Sunday's (Oct. 14) Wolverine Interregional. The 5,000-meter race, hosted by the University of Michigan, was held at the U-M Golf Course.
North Carolina, ranked eighth in the nation, won the seven-team race with a team score of 26 points, with #14 Wisconsin (47 pts.) placing second. Individually, UNC's Shalane Flanagan won the race in a time of 17:26.
BGSU had a team total of 178 points, and the Falcons were led by junior Joy Echler. Echler was 19th in the 55-woman race, with a time of 19:37. Freshman Melissa Krueger was the second Falcon to cross the line, placing 37th in 20:32.
Other BGSU finishers included senior Sarah Lohrbach (42nd, 20:41), freshman Elise Gould (45th, 21:15), juniors Christy Paine (46th, 21:17) and Cyndi Bostdorff (48th, 21:41), sophomore Amber Culp (52nd, 22:25), freshman Nicole Suitor (53rd, 22:40), junior Kristin Spicer (54th, 23:04) and freshman Kim Klipan (55th, 24:04).
The Wolverine Interregional was the Falcons' final tune-up prior to the Mid-American Conference Championship. The league race is scheduled for Oct. 27.
