CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's basketball senior Francine Miller has been named to the Preseason All-Mid-American Conference Team. The five-player team was announced by the league office.
Voting for the team was conducted by members of the MAC News Media Association.
Miller was selected to the preseason all-league team for the second consecutive year. Last season, she led the team in scoring (14.3 ppg) despite missing all of five games and parts of several others with a meniscus injury. A native of Kalida, Ohio, Miller also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest, in addition to making 40 three-point field goals. She earned All-MAC Second-Team honors last March after being named to the first team as a sophomore in 1999-2000.
Also last year, Miller became the 16th player, and just the fifth junior, in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. She enters her senior season as the MAC's active career scoring leader, and ranks 13th in BGSU history, with 1,079 points.
Joining Miller on the 2001-02 Preseason All-MAC Team are junior Tamara Bowie of Ball State, Western Michigan redshirt sophomore Kristin Koetsier, Miami sophomore Kim Lancaster and Eastern Michigan senior Stephanie Smiley.
