Waco, TX - Bowling Green State Univesity football defensive coordinator Tim Beckman is one of 18 finalists for the American Football Coaches Assistant Coach of the Year Award. Beckman is in his fourth season with the Falcons and has orchestrated a defense which is the top-ranked unit in the Mid-American Conference in total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense, and turnover margin.
Nationally, the Falcons are third in the country against the rush, are 11th in total defense, and 12th in fewest points allowed. The Falcons are the national leader in fewest rushing TD's allowed with just two opponent running plays reaching the end zone this season.
