McLeod Named MAC Player of the Week

Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green's Keith McLeod (East Division) and Central Michigan's David Webber (West Division) were selected as winners of the Mid-American Conference Player of the week award for the first week of the 2001-2002 season (games of Nov. 15-18).
MAC East Division Player of the Week Bowling Green's Keith McLeod (6-2, Sr., G, Canton, Ohio)
McLeod was named to the all-tournament team at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks. McLeod led BG to a third place finish with wins over Mississippi and Delaware. He averaged 23 points, four rebounds and two steals during the three-day event. McLeod shot 51.4% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range. He scored 33 points against Ole Miss, 28 points against Washington and made the go-ahead basket in the final minute in the win over Delaware.
MAC West Division Player of the Week Central Michigan's David Webber (6-2, Sr., G, Farmington Hills, Mich.)
Webber led CMU to a 75-53 win over Tri-State in the Chippewas' season opener by scoring a game-high 26 points. He also led the team with five rebounds and five assists. Webber marked his 11th career game with 25 or more points and needs 13 counters to tie former NBA All-Star Dan Roundfield for sixth on CMU's career scoring chart.
Additional nominations: Akron forward Andy Hipsher played his first extended action since undergoing back surgery May 5 and his first game since Dec. 16, 2000. Hipsher tallied game-highs of 21 points in a 67-64 win over Iona. He added nine rebounds and a blocked shot in 36 minutes of action.
Marshall guard Tamar Slay averaged 24 points in losses to George Washington and No. 4 ranked Kentucky. Slay added seven rebounds per game and was named to the all-tournament teams Marshall competed at the NABC Classic at Rupp Arena.
Miami forward Danny Horace scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in his collegiate debut as the RedHawks dropped a 50-42 contest at UNC-Wilmington. Horace played 34 minutes.
