BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Reserve guard Kate Fagan scored a career-high 16 points as No. 14 Colorado beat Bowling Green 96-44 in the first round of the Coors Classic on Friday night.
The Buffaloes (4-1) will seek their sixth straight tournament championship Saturday against Houston, which won the inaugural title in 1987.
Center Britt Hartshorn had a season-high 15 points and freshman Veronica Johns-Richardson added a career-high 14 points for CU.
Colorado led 24-9 when it scored 27 straight points for a 53-9 lead in the first half. Bowling Green (1-2) missed 12 straight shots and committed 11 turnovers during its scoring drought.
Senior guard Mandy Nightingale scored 14 points and became the 18th player in CU history to reach 1,000 career points, following Hartshorn and Jenny Roulier this season. Only three Buffs starters played in the second half.
Lindsay Austin was the only Bowling Green player to reach double figures. She had a career-high 16 points and six rebounds.
The Falcons will face Yale, a 61-59 loser to Houston, in Saturday's consolation game.
