Bowling Green, Ohio - In its first matchup against outside competition, the Bowling Green State University men's basketball team defeated Argentina Select, 101-86, Sunday afternoon in Anderson Arena.
All 13 members of the BGSU team played in the first eight minutes of the game and each squadmember scored as the Falcons begin their fifth season under coach Dan Dakich.
The Falcons return nine players from last season, but the play of newcomer Germain Fitch (11 points, six rebounds and three steals in 16 minutes) earned the highest praise following the game.
"I thought he competed and if he didn't get four fouls we would have let him play the rest of the (second) half," said Dakich.
Sophomore Josh Almanson had 12 points and a team-best seven boards and freshman Erik Crawford added 10 points and four rebounds.
Senior Len Matela led the Falcons with 21 points and senior Brandon Pardon chipped in 12 points.
The Falcons will host Shawnee State in their final exhibition game before opening the season November 15 against Ole Miss at the Top of the World Shootout in Fairbanks, Alaska.
