BGSU Baseball Announces Four Signees

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University baseball coach Danny Schmitz announced the signing of four players this week as part of his 2002-03 recruiting class.
The four signees Schmitz announced include right-handed pitcher/shortstop Greg Becker (Celina, Ohio), right-handed pitcher Tyler Johnson (Tipp City, Ohio), shortstop Robert Majer (Euclid, Ohio) and infielder/outfielder Nolan Reimold (Greenville, Pa.).
Player Profiles
* Greg Becker (6-0, 175, RHP/SS, Celina, Ohio/Celina High School) Becker is a three-year letterwinner and starter for Celina High School heading into his senior season. He is the second Division I signee for coach Bruce Boley at Celina and helped the team to a 24-6 record in 2001 before losing 6-5 in the District Finals. Celina has been 45-12 over the last two years and was ranked number one in Division I all last season. Becker batted .359 with nine doubles, two homers and 28 RBIs at shortstop last year and pitched 22 and two-thirds innings. On the mound, he had a 4.32 ERA with 36 strikeouts and 16 walks. In his first varsity at-bat as a freshman, Becker hit a home run vs. Marion Local High School.
* Tyler Johnson (6-2, 170, RHP, Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe High School) Johnson finished 6-3 on the mound for Tippecanoe High School as a junior, helping his team to a 20-9 record, its seventh-consecutive Southwestern Rivers Conference title, and an appearance in the District Championship. He had four saves and a 2.43 ERA in 46 and two-thirds innings of work, including 66 strikeouts and just 17 walks. Johnson was named All-Dayton Area and All-Southwestern Rivers Conference second team last season. He lettered as a sophomore and junior while Tippecanoe had a 43-14 record during that time. Johnson's father pitched at the University of Tennessee.
* Robert Majer (5-10, 170, SS, Euclid, Ohio/Euclid High School) Majer has started the last two years at shortstop for the Euclid Panthers and has been named All-Lake Erie League and All-County both of those seasons. He was named second-team All-News Herald and honorable mention on the Cleveland Plain Dealer's 2001 high school baseball team. Majer helped Euclid to a 2000 LEL Lake Division Championship.
* Nolan Reimold (6-4, 190, INF, Greenville, Pa./Kennedy Catholic High School) Reimold will play his senior season at Kennedy Catholic High School this spring. He has also played on the BB Rooners Summer Team for coach Rod Simmer. With the Rooners in 2001, Reimold batted .488 with 20 home runs and 68 RBIs. His on-base percentage was .561 with a .964 slugging percentage for the 52-9 Runners. The team won the Beast of the East (Wheeling, W.V.) and Battle Creek (Mich.) Tournaments while finishing as runners-up in the Canadian Invitational. He was named MVP of the Beast of the East Tournament.
