Falcons Host Notre Dame Bowling Green State University plays its final two home games of December this weekend by hosting Notre Dame (Dec. 7-8). This will be the first of two two-game sets between the Falcons and the Irish. BGSU travels to South Bend, Ind., on the last weekend of the regular season (March 1-2).
BGSU versus the Irish The Falcons lead the overall series with Notre Dame, 28-23-4, including a 18-9-1 advantage at the BGSU Ice Arena. However, BGSU has won just one game in the last 10 matchups (1-7-2), that coming on Feb. 20, 1999 at the Ice Arena (5-1). The Falcons owned a series-high eight-game winning streak from Feb. 18, 1994 through Feb. 24, 1996.
Bowling Green State University Head Coach Buddy Powers Buddy Powers (Boston University '75) is in his eighth season as head coach of the Falcons. Powers has an overall record of 250-203-39 (.548 pct.) in 13 years as head coach at Bowling Green (1994-SA), Rensselaer (1989-94) and Rochester Institute of Technology (1988-89). His record with the Brown and Orange stands at 130-132-24 (.497 pct.). Appointed the head coach at Bowling Green on July 12, 1994, Powers is the fourth head coach in the program's history. It is his 14th season overall on the Falcon bench after serving six years as assistant coach under Jerry York from 1982-88.
Last Year vs. Notre Dame Bowling Green lost its only two games last year (Feb. 9-10) to Notre Dame in South Bend, 3-2 and 5-3. In the 3-2 loss, Scott Hewson had a goal and assist to lead the Falcons. Goalie Tyler Masters had 31 saves. The next night, D'Arcy McConvey had a career-high three assists while Curtis Valentine had two goals. Austin de Luis had the other Falcon goal and Masters had 33 saves in the net.
Masters Moving Up the Ladder The 73 saves goaltender Tyler Masters had last weekend vs. Nebraska-Omaha moved him into a fourth-place tie with Mike Liut (1973-77) on the BGSU career saves list with 2,204.

Day Reaches 50 Career Goals Senior Greg Day scored his 50th career goal on Nov. 30 against Nebraska-Omaha. The forward followed that up with his 51st goal the next night on Dec. 1. Day leads the team with eight goals this season and has scored five goals in BGSU's last eight games.
