BOWLING GREEN (7-10, 3-5) at MIAMI (10-11, 6-4) Noon, Saturday, February 3 Millett Hall (9,200) Series Record: Miami leads 67-38 Last Meeting: Miami 58, BGSU 56 (2000 MAC Tournament) Radio: WBVI (96.7) On the Web: www.bgsufalcons.com
BGSU AND THE MAC
The Falcons are in their 47th season as a member of the MAC. BGSU has a 357-318 record in the league and is third overall among conference schools with eight titles. The Falcons have a 29-14 MAC record since 1999 and captured their eighth MAC Championship with a 14-4 record, last season. They also won titles in 1997, 1983, 1981, 1968, 1963, 1962, and 1959.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 106th meeting in a series which began in 1943. Each of the team's last four meetings have been decided by six points or less. Last year, Miami defeated BGSU, 58-56 in overtime at the MAC tournament, while the Falcons won regular season meetings in Miami, 66-60, and 68-63 in BG. Last season marked the first time since 1988 that the Falcons had swept the regular season meetings.
TURN AROUND AND REBOUND
Inspired by Coach Dan Dakich's fashion sense (wearing his sport coat backwards) the Falcons have hopefully turned their season around after defeating Western Michigan, 77-61. With a four-game losing streak behind them, the Falcons embark on a three-game road trip (Miami, Ohio, Buffalo) before closing out the conference season with five of seven at home.
The Falcons are coming off their best defensive effort of the season (61 points allowed on 38.6 percent shooting) and outrebounded their opponent for the third straight game, 38-30.
CAREER NOTES
Junior Len Matela is third on the BGSU all-time list in career field goal percentage (58.8). He leads active Falcon players in career starts with 50.
Junior Keith McLeod is second on the BGSU all-time list in career three-point field goal percentage (39.4). He has averaged 30.8 minutes per game during his career.
Senior Trent Jackson has moved into sixth place on the all-time BGSU list in career field goal percentage (52.0).
