MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team remained unbeaten in dual-match play this season, posting a 5-2 victory at Marquette University Friday (Feb. 16). The non-league match was held at the Marquette Tennis Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
The Falcons earned wins at four singles flights, and captured the doubles point to move to 6-0 on the season.
In singles action, junior Vitek Wild lost to the Golden Eagles' Peter Mojzis at the top flight. For Wild, the loss was just his second in 18 singles matches this season.
Sophomore Geoff Hiscox was a winner at the #2 flight, the only singles match decided in two sets. Hiscox, after beating his regionally-ranked opponent, is now 13-5 on the season.
Other BGSU singles winners included junior Mike Kossoff, senior Brandon Gabel and sophomore Micael Lopez-Acevedo at the fourth through sixth flights, respectively. Kossoff improved to 12-5, while Gabel is now 11-4 and Lopez-Acevedo 13-6 on the year.
At the top doubles flight, Wild teamed with Hiscox for a victory, as that duo improved to 8-3. Junior Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo paired with Gabel for a win at the middle flight, with that team moving to 3-1 on the season.
The Falcons remain in Milwaukee for Saturday's (Feb. 17) neutral-site match vs. Wisconsin-Green Bay.
