MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team improved to a perfect 7-0 in dual-match play with a 5-2 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The non-conference, neutral-site match was held in Milwaukee, Wis.
The Brown and Orange lost at each of the top two singles flights, but received wins at flights three through six. At the third level, sophomore Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo had a straight-sets win over his Phoenix opponent, while junior Mike Kossoff won in the minimum two sets at the fourth flight.
Freshman Nick Moxley and sophomore Micael Lopez-Acevedo won their matches at the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
In doubles, all three Falcon teams earned wins. The top team consisted of junior Vitek Wild and sophomore Geoff Hiscox. At the middle level, the winning Falcon duo was made up of Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo and senior Brandon Gabel. BGSU's third-flight winners were Kossoff and Moxley.
The Falcons of coach Jay Harris will put the undefeated record on the line with a Friday (Feb. 23) match vs. Ferris State University. That match will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Shadow Valley in Toledo.
