Softball Suffers 3-1 Loss To East Carolina

ROCK HILL, S.C. - East Carolina University sophomore pitcher Laurie Davidson threw a complete-game one-hitter as the Lady Pirates captured a 3-1 decision over the Bowling Green State University softball team. Sunday's (March 18) game, an elimination-round contest in the Winthrop Invitational, was held in Rock Hill, S.C.
With the loss, the Falcons drop to 7-7 on the season, while ECU improves to 26-7 on the year.
BGSU concludes spring-trip play in South Carolina with a 5-4 record.
The Falcons' lone hit came off the bat of sophomore Crystal Wilson. Wilson, who led the Brown and Orange with a .353 batting average on the week, singled in the fifth inning to plate senior Lynsey Ebel with BG's lone run.
ECU got single runs in the first, third and fifth innings en route to the win.
Davidson walked three batters and struck out 10 in the contest. BGSU starter McKenna Houle suffered the loss, throwing a complete-game seven-hitter. She walked two batters and fanned two.
The Falcons return to action with six games in next weekend's (March 23-25) Who's Hoo Invitational, hosted by the University of Virginia. BGSU will play doubleheaders against each of the other three teams in the tourney, beginning with Friday's (March 23) twinbill vs. Penn State. Liberty University is the fourth team in the field.
