Allendale, Michigan - The Bowling Green State University women's golf team has a 10-stroke lead after the first day of the Grand Valley State Spring Invitational at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Michigan. The event will conclude tomorrow.
The Falcons have been led by freshman Julie Wise (Toledo/St. Ursula) who leads all individuals with a 77. Freshman Jenny Schnipke (Kalida) and junior Shannon Smith (Waynesville) who are tied for third place with an 80. Sophomore Shelley Binzel (Dublin) has an 83 as does sophomore Stephanie Elsea (Worthington). Freshman Kari Evans (Louisville) shot a 90 on the first day.
BGSU's team score of 323 is 10 strokes ahead of Ferris State (333). Oakland is in third (341), followed by Grand Valley State (348), Baldwin Wallace (363), Hope (366), Ashland (455) and Chicago State (446).
