Melchiorre Named Athletic Academic Coordinator

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University Director of Athletics Paul Krebs has named Rachel Melchiorre as the department's new athletic academic coordinator. She comes to BGSU from the University of North Carolina where she worked in the Tar Heels athletic academic affairs office. She fills a position that was vacated when Dr. Darren Hamilton was promoted to assistant athletic director for academic affairs earlier this year.
At UNC, Melchiorre advised and counseled student -athletes on course selection, registration, academic skills, time management, and career planning. She also helped process NCAA Clearinghouse initial eligibility documentation and supervised structured study and tutorial sessions for student-athletes.
She recently completed her master's degree in sports administration from UNC and earned her bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech University in 1999. A native of Hilliard, Ohio, she was a four-year letterwinner for TTU's women's volleyball team and was a third-team GTE Academic All-American. She also was the school's nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.
