Falcons Enjoy Spring Success

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team, in the middle of spring practice, enjoyed a successful weekend of action, posting four wins in as many matches. BGSU's wins included a pair over other universities and a pair against club teams.
On Saturday (March 31), the Falcons defeated the University of Toledo, 1-0, before downing Ohio Premier Team Dayton by a 2-1 count. Sunday (April 1), the Falcons beat Tiffin University, 4-0, and downed the Club Ohio Dynamoes, 5-0.
All matches consisted of two 35-minute halves.
In the win over UT, Tracy Gleixner got the lone goal of the match. Mandy Smith scored a first-half goal in the win over Club Ohio, while Susan Wallace found the back of the net in the second half. The lone goal surrendered by the Brown and Orange came on a penalty kick in the last few minutes of the match.
Sara Leary opened the scoring in the win over Tiffin, with the lone goal of the first half. Gleixner sandwiched two second-half goals around a marker by Annmarie Aparo.
Aparo scored twice more vs. Club Ohio, recording the first and third goals of the match. Smith, Gleixner and Beth Wechsler also had goals as the Falcons completed the undefeated weekend.
In the four matches, the Falcons scored a total of 12 goals while allowing just one.
"We are very pleased with our results, which came against quality opposition," said BGSU coach Andy Richards. "In addition to the two matches against other Ohio universities, we played several strong club teams.
"We received some very good individual and team performances on the weekend."
In other matches contested at BGSU, Team Dayton defeated Toledo, 3-0 on Saturday, while Tiffin was a 2-1 winner over Club Ohio Sunday.
