Baseball Leads Nation In Hitting

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team leads the nation in hitting, according to the latest NCAA Division I statistics. The national stats, released Wednesday (April 24), reflect games through Monday's (April 22) action.
The Falcons, heading into Wednesday evening's game at Notre Dame, pace the entire country with a .359 batting average. BGSU is ranked in three other categories as well, including scoring, winning pct. and win streaks.
The Brown and Orange ranks fourth in the nation in scoring, averaging 9.87 runs per game. The Falcons have scored 375 runs in 38 games this season.
BGSU is 19th in the country with a .737 winning percentage, and the Falcons entered the UND contest with a seven-game winning streak, the third-longest in the country.
Interestingly, the Falcons, the top-hitting team in the nation, will face the number-one pitching staff in the country Wednesday night. Notre Dame leads the nation with a team ERA of 2.52. The Fighting Irish also brings a 14-game win streak, longest in the country, into the game.
UND, ranked first in the country in the Collegiate Baseball poll, brings a 35-5-1 record into Wednesday's game, while BGSU is 28-10 overall.
