Bowling Green, Ohio - Five scoring plays of 37-yards or better provided Bowling Green State University football fans with a glimpse of things to come next fall as Tim Beckman's Orange squad edged Gregg Brandon's Brown squad, 20-14, in the Falcons spring game. The Orange team gained 279 yards in 40 plays, while the Brown notched 245 yards in 45 plays.
Sophomore quarterback Josh Harris rushed for 133 yards on six carries and scored on TD runs of 65 yards and 55 yards to lead the Orange squad. Junior running back Godfrey Lewis (10 carries for 80 yards) also scored on a 53-yard run.
The Brown team was led by the duo of junior quarterback Andy Sahm and junior wide receiver Robert Redd. Sahm was 13 of 25 for 185 yards and connected with Redd on scoring strikes of 37 and 61 yards. Redd caught 10 passes for 162 yards.
Defensively, sophomores Janssen Patton and Jason Morton each had interceptions for the Brown. Redshirt freshman Jovon Burkes had eight tackles including two for a loss and 1 1/2 sacks. For the orange, junior linebacker Marcus Allen had nine tackles, including five for a loss and freshman Anthony Hicks added an interception.
