ANGIE DOMSCHOT ON MAC'S ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Senior Angie Domschot was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team. The team was announced at the conclusion of the tourney in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Domschot was BGSU's lone representative on the team.
Domschot led the Falcons with a .556 batting average in the three tournament games. She had five hits, including three doubles, in nine at-bats, and scored three of BG's nine runs in the tourney.
HEAD COACH LEIGH ROSS-SHAW: Leigh Ross-Shaw has completed her third season as a collegiate head coach, all with the Falcons, and has an overall record of 89-64 (.582). Ross-Shaw has a Mid-American Conference mark of 47-23 (.671) after leading the Brown and Orange to a MAC East Division co-championship last year and the outright division title this season. On May 9, Ross-Shaw was named the MAC Coach of the Year (more information below).
Ross-Shaw assumed the top job after two years as BG's assistant coach. The Ottawa Lake, Mich., native came to the Falcon program in 1996 after serving as a high-school head coach, at Notre Dame Academy in Toledo, for four seasons.
Ross-Shaw, a 1992 graduate of the University of Toledo, still holds numerous UT and MAC records, and remains the all-time conference leader in batting average (.398), at-bats and hits. She hit a MAC-record .447 as a senior en route to All-America Second-Team honors. On February 2, she was inducted into the UT Athletics Hall of Fame.
Amy Kyler has completed her third season as Ross-Shaw's assistant. Kyler, quite possibly the top pitcher in Cleveland State history, graduated from CSU in 1997. She played for the Carolina Diamonds of the Women's Pro Softball League for two years, and pitched for the Akron Racers in each of the last two seasons.
ROSS-SHAW NAMED MAC COACH OF THE YEAR: BGSU head coach Leigh Ross-Shaw has been named the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year, it was announced May 9. The award is determined by a vote of the MAC's 13 head softball coaches.
Ross-Shaw guided the Falcons to a record of 35-19 in 2001, and she led BGSU to a 19-5 MAC mark (with a school-record .792 winning pct. in league games) and the East Division title. Ross-Shaw is the third BGSU coach to be named league coach of the year, joining Gail Davenport (1988) and Jacquie Joseph (1993).
NIKKI ROUHANA NAMED MAC PLAYER OF YEAR: Senior Nikki Rouhana is the MAC's Player of the Year for 2001. The announcement was made May 9. The MAC Player-of-the-Year award is determined by a vote of the league's 13 head coaches.
Rouhana, a native of Westerville, Ohio, also earned First-Team All-MAC honors for the second consecutive year. This season, the senior first baseman led the league in batting average (.415), hits (34, 1.42 per game), runs scored (27, 1.12 per game) and total bases (49, 2.04 per game) in MAC contests. She ranked second in both doubles and on-base percentage, and fifth in slugging pct. in league games.
Overall, Rouhana hit a team-high .352 on the year. She had a fielding percentage of .986, including a .990 mark in conference games. Rouhana, also an All-MAC First-Team pick last year, has been a team captain in each of the last three years.
Rouhana becomes just the second Falcon ever to be named MAC P-O-Y, joining Amy Lienhardt, who was so honored in 1988.
FIVE FALCONS NAMED TO ALL-MAC TEAM: A total of five BGSU players have been named to the All-MAC Team, it was announced May 9. The team was determined by a vote of the league's 13 head coaches.

Rouhana, as mentioned earlier, led the league in batting average (.415), hits (34, 1.42 per game), runs scored (27, 1.12 per game) and total bases (49, 2.04 per game) in MAC contests. Rouhana is a repeat selection to the all-league first team.
