BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team earned Academic All-American Team honors with distinction from the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association (WICCCA). The Falcons of head coach Cami Wells tied for 40th among NCAA Division I teams with a cumulative grade point average of 3.34.
Following the spring, 2001, semester, the team's cumulative GPA has increased to a stellar 3.43.
To qualify for Academic All-American Team recognition, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater are accorded Academic All-American "With Distinction" honors.
The Falcons are scheduled to open the 2001 season on Sept. 8 with a dual against Ohio University in Athens.
