The Bowling Green State University men's cross country team posted a second-place finish at the 11-team Mel Brodt Invitational Saturday (Sept. 15). The Falcons, in the team's lone home event of the 2001 season, finished second with a score of 70 points. Malone College won the meet with a team total of 33 points.
Individually, senior Tom Kutter was BGSU's top finisher, placing third with a time of 25:00.64. Malone's Daniel Kibungei won the race with a 24:51.38 result, while teammate Curtis Mortenson was second.
Other BGSU finishers included sophomore Justin Perez (sixth, 25:35.55), senior Chad Kunkle (15th, 26:07.80), freshman Grant Shadden (20th, 26:24.17), senior Rob Glatz (26th, 26:35.62), sophomore Paul Niedzwiecki (30th, 26:40.46), junior Andy Artiaga (37th, 26:50.83), sophomore Steve Blasko (42nd, 27:02.69), senior Austin Chapin (48th, 27:07.96) and junior Nolan Fahrer (52nd, 27:20.45).
