A NEW ERA
First-year Bowling Green State University football coach Urban Meyer is the 15th person to lead the Falcon football program. An Ohio native, he brings 15 years of experience as a Division I assistant and has coached in seven bowl games. He most recently was the receivers coach at Notre Dame after serving on staffs at Ohio State, Illinois State and Colorado State. Following the Falcons' win over Missouri, ESPNMAG.com named him Coach of the Week in a column by Gene Wojciechowski.
FALCONS GAIN NATIONAL ATTENTION
The Falcons did receive one vote in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll after starting the season 3-0.
AHEAD OF HIS TIME Coach Meyer entered the 2001 campaign as the second youngest head coach on the NCAA I-A level.

IN GOOD COMPANY
With the victory against Temple, Urban Meyer becomes just the second coach in BGSU history to start his career 3-0. He joins Don Nehlen as the only Falcon head coaches to ever win their first three games at BGSU.
THE FALCONS AND THE HERD
This will be the 26th meeting in a series which began in 1954. BGSU leads the overall series 19-6 and is 8-4 when visiting Huntington. The Falcons have lost their last two in Marshall Stadium and will be looking for their first road win in the series since capturing a 24-21 triumph in 1973 (series scores on page 3).
HICKS NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior noseguard Brandon Hicks was named MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week after returning an interception 31 yards for a touchdown. He also added two sacks for minus 22 yards among his seven tackles. BG leads the MAC in scoring defense (12.0 ppg) and total defense (265.0 ypg).
AFTER THREE GAMES
BGSU has a 3-0 record for the first time since 1985 and surpassed their victory total of two from 2000...with the victory over Buffalo, BGSU posted its first shutout since October 8, 1994 (72 games)...BGSU is fifth in the country in rushing defense (49.3), sixth in the country in turnover margin (2.0) and 12th in pass efficiency defense (86.16)... offensively, the Falcons have not allowed a sack after allowing a MAC-high 51 in 2000...after being outscored 97-49 in the fourth quarter in 2000, BGSU currently holds a 34-13 advantage in the final 15:00...BGSU has not allowed a rushing TD.
