Women's Cross Country Is 16th In New York

BRONX, N.Y. - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team posted a 16th-place finish in the Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions Saturday morning (Sept. 29). The 22-team race was held at Van Cortlandt Park, with Iona College serving as the host school.
The race featured five teams ranked in the latest FinishLynx/NCAA Division I national poll.
The Falcons recorded a team score of 444 points. Twelfth-ranked Boston College won the team title with 31 points, while #23 Boston University was second with 109 points.
Individually, junior Joy Echler was the first Falcon to cross the line in the 6,000-meter race. Echler was 42nd among a total of 238 finishers, posting a time of 22:05.2. BC's Cate Guiney was the individual winner in a time of 20:05.2, winning the race by nearly 38 seconds.
Junior Christy Paine was the second Falcon finisher, placing 133rd in a time of 23:27.3. Other BGSU competitors included freshmen Melissa Krueger (144th, 23:37.0) and Elise Gould (148th, 23:43.5), senior Sarah Lohrbach (158th, 23:59.5), freshman Nicole Suitor (24:00.2) and juniors Cyndi Bostdorff (185th, 24:36.3) and Kristin Spicer (202nd, 25:18.2).
The Falcons will return to action on Friday (Oct. 5) at the Notre Dame Invitational.
