BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University athletic department saw three of its teams begin the 2001 season last weekend. Falcon programs went a combined 5-0-1 on the road, including the football team's 20-13 win at Missouri.
The BGSU volleyball squad went 3-0, with wins over Atlantic Coast (Maryland), Big Ten (host Indiana) and Southeastern (Tennessee) Conference opponents, to win the Blimpie/Holiday Inn Classic. The Falcon women's soccer team went 1-0-1, with a 2-0 win at UW-Green Bay and a 1-1 tie at Michigan State.
All three teams that played over the weekend received a MAC Player-of-the-Week honor.
A number of other Falcon programs begin action this weekend. The BGSU composite schedule for the next few weeks follows:
