BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball schedule has been announced for the 2001-02 season. The Falcons of first-year head coach Curt Miller will play a challenging, 11-game non-conference slate during November and December, before diving into the 16-game Mid-American Conference schedule in January of 2002.
BGSU could play as many as four games against teams that competed in national post-season play last season, and as many as 11 contests vs. teams that won at least 19 games a year ago.
The Falcons, who return three starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's team, will open the season on Nov. 17 at Youngstown State. The home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 27, against Eastern Kentucky. The Brown and Orange will take part in tournaments hosted by Colorado (Nov. 23-24) and Miami (Fla.) (Dec. 27-28).
BGSU's 12-game home schedule includes four non-conference games, beginning with the EKU contest. Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an NCAA Tournament participant last March, comes to Anderson Arena Dec. 8.
The MAC slate begins Jan. 2, with a home game against defending East Division champion Kent State. In the month of January, the Brown and Orange will play five games against teams that posted first- or second-place divisional finishes last year.
