BGSU Hockey Announces 2002-03 Signees

Bowling Green State University hockey coach Buddy Powers announced the signing of three players during the early signing period as part of his 2002-03 recruiting class.
Those signing letters-of-intent to attend BGSU are Ryan Barnett (Calgary, Alberta), Don Morrison (Bently, Alberta) and Brett Pilkington (Calgary, Alberta). All three play for the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), who are 26-12-6 as of Jan. 5.

* Ryan Barnett (5-11, 175, left wing, born May 26, 1983)
Barnett was the MVP of his Alberta midget league last season. He leads the Grizzlys with 10 power play goals in 41 games played. He is third in points (30-20--50) and has 24 penalty minutes. Barnett was named to the AJHL's 2002 All-Star South Division Team, which takes place Jan. 27 at the Canmore Recreation Center. He scored four goals this season against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
* Don Morrison (5-10, 180, defenseman, born Oct. 30, 1983)
Morrison will attend training camp for Alberta's team in the 2002 Viking Cup Tournament. He is the top-scoring defenseman on the team (4-25--29) with 39 penalty minutes.
* Brett Pilkington (6-0, 185, center, born Jan. 6, 1984)
Pilkington is tied for the team-lead in scoring (13-38--51) with a team-high 38 assists. He has 60 penalty minutes and five power play goals.
