Falcons Return Home for Princeton Bowling Green hosts Princeton University in its only home series during the month of January at the BGSU Ice Arena. The Tigers enter the game 4-11-0 overall and losers of four of their last five, including a sweep by fellow CCHA member Notre Dame last week. Bowling Green will be the farthest west that the ECAC-member Princeton travels this season.
BGSU Versus Princeton The Falcons have never lost to Princeton, recording a perfect 7-0-0 record since their first meeting on Dec. 20, 1971. BGSU swept Princeton last year, 8-3 and 5-0 and have outscored the Tigers 41-17 in their meetings.
Bowling Green State University Head Coach Buddy Powers Buddy Powers (Boston University '75) is in his eighth season as head coach of the Falcons. Powers has an overall record of 251-208-39 (.543 pct.) in 13 years as head coach at Bowling Green (1994-SA), Rensselaer (1989-94) and Rochester Institute of Technology (1988-89). This Saturday's game vs. Princeton will mark his 500th game as as head coach on the collegiate level. His record with the Brown and Orange stands at 131-137-24 (.490 pct.). Appointed the head coach at Bowling Green on July 12, 1994, Powers is the fourth head coach in the program's history. It is his 14th season overall on the Falcon bench after serving six years as assistant coach under Jerry York from 1982-88.
Masters, Day Set Marks at Wells Fargo Cup JR goalkeeper Tyler Masters and SR forward Greg Day put their names in the record book of the Wells Fargo Cup last weekend, hosted by the University of Denver. Masters established new marks for saves in a period (26) and saves in a game (51) against then #3-ranked Denver on Dec. 28. His 51 saves tied a personal best from earlier this year vs. Clarkson. Combined with FR Jordan Sigalet's career-high 41 saves the next night vs. #14 Harvard, BGSU set a new team record with 92 saves for the tourney. Day tied the record for goals in a period with two in the second period vs. Harvard. Day's two goals marked the 11th time that feat had been done.
Day Named to All-Tournament Team SR forward Greg Day was selected to the Wells Fargo Cup All-Tournament team last weekend after recording an assist vs. #3 Denver and two goals vs. #14 Harvard. The two goals tied a season-high for the team captain.
