BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Jenny Schnipke is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Schnipke, a junior on the BGSU women's golf team, was the individual winner and set a school record as the Falcons finished third at the Eastern Kentucky Fall Invitational.
Schnipke, a native of Kalida, Ohio, carded a school-record 145 for 36 holes, breaking the BGSU record set by current teammate Shelley Binzel a month ago (Binzel shot a 148 on Sept. 22).
Schnipke's round of 70 on Saturday (Oct. 12) tied the 15-year-old school record held by Ingrid Lundblad for 18 holes. The EKU Invite marked her first career tournament championship, as she had finished as runner-up in one tourney last season and had two third-place finishes as a freshman.
As a team, BGSU carded a school-record score of 618 in the 14-team tournament, just two strokes behind tournament winner Western Kentucky and one back of Ohio.
Schnipke maintains a 3.36 cumulative GPA as an exercise specialist major.
