Falcons Finish Play At Fall MAC Invite

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team completed play at the 2002 Fall MAC Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich., Sunday (Nov. 10). The tournament completed the Falcons' fall portion of the schedule.
Senior Alyson Gabel posted the best finish for the Brown and Orange, defeating Ball State's Jill Wieman on Sunday to captured third place at the third singles flight.

Sophomore Laura Kokinda and freshman Heidi Romer each took fourth place, at the fourth and fifth flights, respectively. Junior Gaby Coello also took fourth place, at the second flight, while sophomore Lindsey Mix downed Akron's Meredith Carey to win the back draw at the sixth singles level.
Freshman Andrea Meister lost a third-set tiebreaker in the fifth-place match at the fifth flight. Sophomore Susie Schoenberger rallied after two singles losses earlier in the weekend, defeating Branka Savic of Northern Illinois at the top flight. Sophomore Cameron Benjamin dropped her final match of the weekend at flight number one.
In doubles play, the team of Schoenberger and Kokinda won a back-draw match before losing in the back-draw final at the top flight. The duo of Romer and Benjamin did the same thing at the second flight, winning one Sunday match before dropping the final of the back draw.
Also at the second flight, the Gabel/Coello duo split their Sunday action, while Meister and Mix posted a Sunday victory at the third flight after losing the first two matches of the weekend.
Host Western Michigan won seven of the nine flights in the weekend's action.
