BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Pat Fleming is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Fleming, a senior on the BGSU football team, averaged 40.6 yards on five punts, as the Falcons fell from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 26-17 loss at Northern Illinois Saturday (Nov. 9). The loss dropped the Falcons to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in Mid-American Conference action.
BG remains ranked for the fifth-straight week, as the Falcons are 25th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. The Brown and Orange is listed 27th in the Associated Press poll.
At NIU, Fleming placed three of his five kicks inside the Huskie 20-yard line. On the year, the Ottawa, Ontario, native (Earl of March) is averaging 39.4 yards on 36 punts, and has put 19 of those punts inside the opponents' 20.
Fleming, an exercise specialist, has a 3.10 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons will step outside of MAC action for a Saturday (Nov. 16) game at South Florida (7-2). The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
