BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Kim Griech is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Griech, a senior on the BGSU women's basketball team, tied the school record for three-point field goals in a game, with seven against UNC-Wilmington Saturday (Dec. 7).
Griech, a native of Tallmadge, Ohio (Tallmadge H.S.), also set a career scoring high in that UNCW contest, with the first 30-point game of her career. She went 8-of-11 from the field, including 7-of-10 from three-point land, and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Griech was named to the all-tournament team for her play at the Radisson Suites Roundball Classic over the weekend (Dec. 6-7). She averaged 16.3 points and 2.7 rebounds as BG went 2-1 last week. Griech shot .652 from the field and went 10-of-15 (.667) from three-point land and 9-of-9 (1.000) from the free-throw line. She was BG's top scorer in the Butler game (Dec. 4), with 14 points.
On the year, Griech is averaging 14.2 points per game is shooting .595 (22-of-37) from the field, including a 14-of-24 (.583) effort from three-point land, and is a perfect 13-of-13 from the free-throw line on the year. She leads the Falcons in all four categories.
Griech, a management information systems major, has a 3.59 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller (2-3) play at IPFW Wednesday night (Dec. 11) in a 7:00 p.m. tipoff, before heading to Cleveland State for a Saturday (Dec. 14) game.
